What benefits does the Flexischools point-of-sales system provide?

Can I purchase a Flexischools point-of-sale terminal without adding Flexischools cashless cards?

The Flexischools touchscreen point-of-sale terminals have been specifically chosen for their integration with the Flexischools cashless card system and their compatibility with our remote support options. We do not recommend this system for school's using a cash only system. 

We have Flexischools online ordering but we still have some cash, would this suit us?

We recommend that school's focus on increasing parent registrations and sales through online ordering. This will often reduce or eliminate cash on site and therefore reduce the need for expensive point-of-sale systems. In some cases, school's would still like to implement some form of point-of-sale for the remaining cash being received and in these cases we suggest a cheaper and simpler cash register style system to provide the accountability required without all the "bells and whistles" our system offers. 

Can I make changes to pricing and screen layouts on my own?

The point-of-sale system can be easily updated so that changes to your stock and prices can be done by the service manager at any time. The Flexischools point-of-sale terminal has a “back office” program that allows you to update the prices, stock and screen layout from a central location. 

What equipment do I need?

Flexischools performs all the administration required to manage the system, including payment processing, registration, maintenance, and customer service. Flexischools provides the IT infrastructure, customer service and payment processing facilities, so that the ongoing management of the system is performed with no impact on the school staff. 

 

The basic requirements for the incorporation of cashless cards and touchscreen POS are:

  • A student ID card with a barcode, magnetic stripe or RFID/Mifare chip
  • Reliable internet connection to the service location (eg. canteen or uniform shop)
  • A back office PC (where you will be able to view reports and manage the POS screen layouts). The back office system can be installed on one of the POS terminals if required.
  • Network connection to POS terminals and back office PC.
  • 240V power for each POS terminal

Can I network multiple POS terminals?

Yes, we can network your POS terminals to simplify the collection of sales data and updating of terminal item, pricing and screen layouts. At the end of the day, all your sales data is automatically collated into the back-office PC database, and advanced reporting tools can provide consolidated reports of the day's sales and inventory changes.

What training will be provided?

Training is provided to Service Managers remotely prior to the system launching to the school community. Our friendly customer service and tech teams are available from 6.00am to 6.00pm EDST, Monday to Friday if you need a refresher or any help. We're only a phone call away!

What does it cost the school?

Introducing cashless cards and point-of-sale to your school can range in price from approximately $5,500 to $7,500 for one terminal. Pricing is based on the type of student ID card used, the availability of network/internet connections and the number of terminals required.
