Flexischools to be introduced to all ACT Government Schools
Flexischools selected to deliver online ordering and cashless payment solutions to all ACT Government schools as part of the ACT Government and P&C initiative to provide all ACT Government Schools with financially viable community-run canteens which provide healthy food options for public school children.
Flexischools today confirmed that it has been selected by the ACT Council of Parents and Citizens Associations to provide online ordering and cashless payment systems into all ACT Government school canteens by the end of Term 1, 2014.
This is one of the deliverables included in the ACT Canteen Taskforce initiative recently announced by ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health (Katy Gallagher), the Minister for Education and Training (Joy Burch) and the Treasurer of ACT Council of Parents and Citizens Associations (Hugh Boulter) The objective of the Taskforce is to provide all ACT Government Schools with financially viable community-run canteens which provide healthy food options for public school children.
Based on a detailed review of this area, the decision was been taken by the Taskforce to support the introduction of online ordering to all ACT Government schools. Online ordering services have been demonstrated to be popular with parents, improve the viability of P&C-run facilities, and encourage healthier food choices through more flexible and accessible menus.
The Taskforce has chosen Flexischools to deliver the service through a grant provided by the ACT Government. Flexischools will provide parents and children with a reliable ordering platform and the tools to encourage healthier food choices. While the program is focussed on canteen facilities, once established, each school community will have the opportunity to extend online ordering to other P&C services such as Uniform Shops and fundraising.
Managing Director Geoff Austen said “The ACT Government and ACT P&C Association are the first region in Australia to take a comprehensive approach to delivering the benefits from electronic ordering and payment to all their Government school communities.”
“The ACT’s coordinated approach to delivery of these services maximises the efficiency of the rollout, ensures that all schools get access irrespective of size, and guarantees that each community can adopt the services with confidence”.
“As Australia’s leading provider of online ordering and cashless payment systems in schools, Flexischools is ideally placed to work with the ACT Government and P&C Association to deliver on their objectives” stated Mr Austen.
